Bulawayo glass and aluminium

Windows, doors and glass that fit the house they're made for.

The Cutting Edge fabricates aluminium windows, doors, shopfronts and balustrades in Bulawayo, and fits them. New builds, renovations, shop fronts, and the single cracked pane. Every job starts with a site measure, so the frame fits the opening and not the other way round.

Made in Bulawayo, fitted across Bulawayo

The frames we fit are cut, assembled and glazed by our own team here in Bulawayo, then brought to site ready to go in. Because we make them ourselves, the sizes come from your openings rather than from a stock list, and a window that has to line up with the one beside it is made to do exactly that.

We work right across the city: older homes in the eastern suburbs, new houses going up on fresh stands, and shops and offices in between. Have a look at the suburbs we cover, or see how we swapped out tired frames in an older house with steel windows. If your windows are still steel, our page on replacing steel windows with aluminiumexplains how that job runs.

Colours and glass

Frame colours

  • CharcoalA dark grey that works against plaster, brick and stone.
  • BronzeA warm brown that sits well with face brick and timber.
  • WhiteClean against plaster, and the quietest option indoors.
  • Natural anodisedBare silver aluminium with a hard anodised finish.

Other powder-coated colours can be asked about when we quote.

Glass

  • Clear floatTypically 4mm. The everyday pane for most windows.
  • Laminated safety glassTypically 6.38mm. Holds together if it breaks, so it suits doors and low panes.
  • Toughened glassHeat-treated and much stronger; breaks into small blunt pieces. For shopfronts and big panels.
  • Obscure glassFrosted or patterned. Lets the light in and keeps the view out, for bathrooms and street-facing rooms.
  • Tinted glassCuts glare from strong afternoon sun and gives a little privacy.
